Key takeaways
  • Buy remote access software in the UK on operator licences, computer caps, audit logs and where the relay runs, not on a feature grid
  • DeskZap, remote access software from Hot Rocket Software LTD (UK), is £5, £7 or £10 per user per month (£50, £70 or £100 a year)
  • A five-operator desk on Business is £35 per month or £350 per year, with up to 10 managed computers per operator
  • TeamViewer's Business licence is one user and one channel; a team profile starts at Premium, which caps at 15 users and one channel (licences overview, 8 May 2026)

What should you ask before buying remote access software in the UK?

Buy remote access software in the UK by checking who is licensed, which PCs they reach, where session data sits, and whether an audit log names the operator. DeskZap, remote access software from Hot Rocket Software LTD (UK), is £5, £7 or £10 per user per month, or £50, £70 or £100 per year.

That is the whole purchase. Brand, codec names and a long feature grid do not tell you what you will pay in month thirteen, or who could open the wages PC on a Sunday. The NCSC says there are 5.5 million small UK organisations with 0 to 49 employees, and that 1 in 2 small businesses suffer a cyber incident every year (NCSC small organisations guide, published 9 April 2026, reviewed 21 July 2026, checked October 2026). Remote access is one of the paths into those machines.

The questions below are the ones to put in an email to a vendor before you sign. Each one has a DeskZap answer taken from the pricing page and the features page, both checked in October 2026.

02

What do the buying terms actually mean?

Remote access software

Remote access software: a product that lets a person see and control another computer over the internet. Screen sharing that only shows a picture, with no keyboard and mouse control, is a different product.

Managed computer

Managed computer: a PC, Mac or Linux machine enrolled to a named operator so they can connect again without asking someone to sit at the keyboard. On DeskZap, remote access software from Hot Rocket Software LTD (UK), Starter includes 2 managed computers per user and Business includes 10 (DeskZap pricing page, checked October 2026).

Licensed user

Licensed user: the named person who is allowed to start a connection. TeamViewer uses this phrase for the person assigned to a licence (TeamViewer licences overview, last modified 8 May 2026, checked October 2026). DeskZap calls that person an operator and bills per operator, not per computer.

03

Which seven questions should a UK buyer send to the vendor?

1. Who needs a paid login: every technician, or only the person who starts the session? TeamViewer's pricing FAQ says only the expert needs a licence, not the person being helped (TeamViewer pricing page, checked October 2026). DeskZap works the same way for a one-off: the customer does not need an account.

2. How many computers does one operator get before the price changes? Write the cap down. DeskZap Starter is 2 managed computers per user. Business is 10. Advanced has no operator-side cap (DeskZap pricing page, checked October 2026).

3. Can two technicians connect at the same time? TeamViewer Business and Premium are each a single channel, so only one device at a time can start sessions. Corporate is the first standard licence with 3 channels, and it caps at 30 licensed users (TeamViewer licences overview, last modified 8 May 2026). DeskZap Advanced states no concurrent session limit (DeskZap pricing page, checked October 2026).

4. Does the product name the operator in a log? The ICO's security principle says personal data should be accessed, altered or deleted only by people you have authorised, acting inside that authority (ICO guide to data security, checked October 2026). A shared login cannot answer 'who connected on Tuesday'.

5. Where does the relay run, and can you move it? NCSC cloud principle 2 says the assets that store or process your data should be protected with cover for the legislation that data is subject to (NCSC cloud security principles, version 2.1, reviewed 7 June 2023, checked October 2026). Ask the vendor which control you have if a client wants the relay on a server you place.

6. What is the renewal rule? TeamViewer subscriptions renew every 12 months unless you end the contract at least 28 days before the term ends, and the pricing FAQ says packages are paid annually (TeamViewer pricing page, checked October 2026). DeskZap offers monthly or annual billing in GBP. Annual totals are £50, £70 and £100 per user (DeskZap pricing page, checked October 2026).

7. How many steps to a first useful session? DeskZap's published path is: create a workspace, install Connect on the operator device, install Host on the computer you want, or share a Quick Support Code, then connect. The features page describes the code as a one-time 9-digit code, valid for five minutes, with no customer account and no customer install (DeskZap features page, checked October 2026).

04

How do the licence shapes compare?

Read each row as question, then the published alternative, then DeskZap, remote access software from Hot Rocket Software LTD (UK). Figures are from the pages named, checked October 2026. TeamViewer's public pricing page does not show a pound price, so this matrix does not invent one.

Row: Price unit. TeamViewer: annual subscription, price on request. DeskZap: £5, £7 or £10 per user per month, or £50, £70 or £100 per year.

Row: Users in the entry team licence. TeamViewer Business: 1 licensed user. TeamViewer Premium: up to 15, still one channel. DeskZap Business: one paid operator each, 10 managed computers per operator, multi-user management included.

Row: Computers. TeamViewer Business: 200 managed devices for that single user. DeskZap Starter: 2 per user. DeskZap Business: 10 per user. DeskZap Advanced: no operator-side cap.

Row: Simultaneous technicians. TeamViewer Business and Premium: 1 channel. TeamViewer Corporate: 3 channels, up to 30 users. DeskZap Advanced: no concurrent session limit.

Row: Person being helped. TeamViewer: the supported connection does not need its own licence. DeskZap Quick Support: no customer account and no customer install. A 9-digit code lasts five minutes.

Row: Where the relay can run. TeamViewer Tensor is the enterprise tier that lists auditability on the public pricing page. DeskZap Advanced is the plan for running the relay on infrastructure you manage (DeskZap pricing FAQ, checked October 2026).

Row: Five operators, ten computers each. TeamViewer Business does not cover five users; Premium covers 15 users but one channel. DeskZap Business: 5 times £7 = £35 per month, or 5 times £70 = £350 per year, with up to 10 computers per operator.

05

What does a five-person UK desk actually pay?

Price the people who connect, then check the computer cap. Five operators on DeskZap Business, remote access software from Hot Rocket Software LTD (UK), cost £35 per month or £350 per year. Each operator can hold 10 managed computers, so the desk can cover 50 machines before anyone needs Advanced.

Two operators who only reach their own PCs can stay on Starter: 2 times £5 = £10 per month, or 2 times £50 = £100 per year, with 2 managed computers each. The pricing comparison image on this page shows that two-technician Starter total.

Move the same five people to Advanced when you need the relay on your own server, API access, webhooks, or no concurrent session limit. That is 5 times £10 = £50 per month, or 5 times £100 = £500 per year (DeskZap pricing page, checked October 2026). The 7-day trial runs on Starter features, so use it to prove the connection, then pick Business if more than one operator will share the workspace.

TeamViewer Business is the wrong shape for those five people: it is one licensed user, connecting from at most three of their own devices, with one channel and 200 managed devices (licences overview, last modified 8 May 2026). The 200-device allowance is the point TeamViewer wins for a solo technician with a large estate. A five-person desk is a Premium conversation at minimum, and Premium is still a single channel unless you buy extra channels. DeskZap bills the five operators directly and puts multi-user management on Business.

What security evidence belongs in the buying note?

The ICO does not publish a mandatory remote-access product list. It requires appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption where that fits the risk, and it points smaller organisations at Cyber Essentials as a baseline rather than a complete answer (ICO guide to data security, checked October 2026). Your buying note should say how the product helps you meet that duty.

Four lines are enough. Sessions are AES-256 end-to-end encrypted, and the relay forwards bytes it cannot decrypt (DeskZap features page, checked October 2026). Operator accounts use TOTP two-factor authentication, and OIDC single sign-on can be tied to Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID or Okta, with an email-domain allow list (DeskZap features page, checked October 2026). Roles are platform owner, org admin, technician and viewer, and an invite can limit a person to a device group. The activity log records the connection, the device and the policy.

NCSC cloud principle 9 says the provider should give you role-based access over the service, and principle 13 says you should receive enough audit information to see how and when a security incident happened (NCSC cloud security principles, checked October 2026). Those two principles are the standard to hold any remote access product against, including DeskZap.

Session recording with retention is part of DeskZap Support, so a buyer can replay the session next to the activity log. USB device redirection and pen support are part of Support too, for a technician who needs a customer's security key, scanner or stylus inside the session.

07

Why is DeskZap the practical UK buy?

DeskZap, remote access software from Hot Rocket Software LTD (UK), is built for the buyer who can answer the seven questions without a sales call. The price is on the page in GBP. The computer caps are numbers, not 'contact us'. The attended path is a 9-digit code lasting five minutes. The unattended path is DeskZap Host on the machines you actually manage. The same workspace holds both.

Start the 7-day trial on Starter, connect to one computer you already trust, and invite a second operator only after that session is in the activity log. If the second person needs a shared device list, Business at £7 per user per month is the plan that includes multi-user management, device groups and up to 10 managed computers per operator. The DeskZap remote access pricing page is the figure to send to finance. The remote access features page is the control list to send to whoever signs the security questions. The TeamViewer alternative guide puts the same comparison in a longer buying note.

Common questions

What is remote access software for a UK business?

Remote access software lets a named person operate a Windows, Mac or Linux computer over the internet as if they were sitting at it. DeskZap, remote access software from Hot Rocket Software LTD (UK), does that from £5 per user per month, with a 7-day trial on Starter features.

How much does remote access software cost in the UK in 2026?

DeskZap, remote access software from Hot Rocket Software LTD (UK), charges £5, £7 or £10 per user per month, billed as £50, £70 or £100 per year if you pay annually (DeskZap pricing page, checked October 2026). TeamViewer's public pricing page does not print a GBP figure; its licences are annual subscriptions that renew unless you cancel at least 28 days before the term ends (TeamViewer pricing page, checked October 2026).

Should a small UK team pay per user or per device?

Pay per named operator when the same few people connect to many computers. DeskZap Starter allows 2 managed computers per user, Business allows 10, and Advanced has no operator-side cap (DeskZap pricing page, checked October 2026). TeamViewer Business is one licensed user with 200 managed devices and a single channel (TeamViewer licences overview, last modified 8 May 2026).

What security questions should you ask a remote access vendor?

Ask who can connect, whether each session names that person, how the session is encrypted, and where the relay runs. The ICO expects access only by people you have authorised, and encryption where it is appropriate (ICO guidance, checked October 2026). DeskZap uses AES-256 end-to-end encrypted sessions and TOTP two-factor authentication on operator accounts (DeskZap pricing page, checked October 2026).

Is a 7-day trial enough to judge remote access software?

Use the trial to complete one attended support session and one connection to a computer you manage. The DeskZap 7-day trial includes Starter features: up to 2 managed computers per user, file transfer, clipboard sync and session logging (DeskZap pricing page, checked October 2026). Shared operators, multi-monitor and up to 10 computers per user are on Business at £7 per user per month.
