Remote support for UK accountancy firms

Remote support for a UK accountancy firm means opening the computer that already holds Sage, Xero or the tax software. DeskZap gives each accountant a named login to that machine, at a published price per person. The client does not need an account of their own.

01 / The work

What three jobs do accountants run on a remote PC?

The practice needs the company file, the tax return, and a starter the log can name.

01
Month-end

Month-end on the client's machine

Sage 50 sits on the client's office PC or small server. With their agreement, DeskZap Host stays there and you connect when the company file is free. Sage remains the ledger. There is no connector: the session is the computer, and file transfer can bring a working paper back.

02
From home

The partner working from home

The practice PC holds the tax software, the working papers and the mail. DeskZap opens that one machine under the partner's login. On Business and Advanced the session follows each monitor, and remote print can put a set of accounts on paper.

03
A new hire

Onboarding a new starter

Add them as a named operator. On Business and Advanced a device group and a role limit them to their clients, via an email invite. Remove the user when the contract ends. The log keeps their name on the work already done.

02 / Why DeskZap

Where does DeskZap win for an accountancy practice?

A per-device quote and a shared login are the two things a practice is usually trying to leave.

  • A price you can put in the engagement letter

Starter is £5 a month or £50 a year. Business is £7 or £70. Advanced is £10 or £100. Per accountant who connects, and ready for a proposal.

  • Client PCs do not multiply the bill

Eight client machines and a server are not nine line items. You pay for the operators. That is a sentence a fee review can carry.

  • A code for the client who will not install

They read a 9-digit Quick Support code, valid for 5 minutes, and create no account. You walk the bank feed or the VAT figure, then the code expires.

  • Remote print for the document that still needs paper

A VAT worksheet or a set of accounts can print to a printer on the operator's side. Remote print is included from Starter.

  • The second monitor, on Business and Advanced

Per-monitor sessions open the ledger on one display and the mail on the other. Starter stays the single-screen plan.

  • A log a partner can read, and self-host if you must

The activity log names which accountant joined which machine, and when. Advanced self-hosts the control plane when that metadata should sit on infrastructure the firm runs in the UK.

03 / Client data

How do you account for who saw client data?

The company file stays in Sage, Xero or the tax product. DeskZap is the named view of that machine.

Read self-hosted remote desktop and data residency and the features page.

01

Each accountant is a named user

The price is per operator, so the workspace already has a name. TOTP two-factor authentication is available. Business and Advanced add the device group and the role.

02

Who connected, to which machine, when

Session history stores the operator, the device, the time and the policy. The screen is AES-256 end-to-end encrypted, and the relay cannot read it.

03

Self-host on Advanced for the metadata

Most firms use the cloud control plane. A practice that wants the connection records on UK infrastructure it runs takes Advanced and self-hosts. The company file stays where Sage or Xero already keeps it.

Session recording with retention, USB redirection and pen support are part of DeskZap Support. The activity log records the named operator, machine and time on every session.

04 / Price

What does remote support cost per accountant?

Same three plans as the pricing page. A sole practitioner can start on Starter. Several accountants, groups and a second monitor point to Business. Advanced is self-host, with no per-user cap.

Yearly figures are the annual total per named user.

05 / Questions

What do accountancy firms ask before they buy?

These are the questions that come up on a partner call. Each answer stands on its own. TeamViewer alternative for UK teams and Remote PC access without a VPN cover the neighbouring questions.

01Can we help a client who will not install anything?Show

Yes. They read a 9-digit code that lasts 5 minutes. They create no account and install nothing for that call. Leave DeskZap Host only where they have agreed a standing connection, such as the PC that holds Sage 50.

02Where does session data live?Show

The screen is AES-256 end-to-end encrypted, and the relay cannot read the company file in transit. The activity log (operator, machine and time) sits in the control plane. Advanced can self-host that plane on infrastructure the firm runs. Session recording with retention is part of DeskZap Support.

03Do we pay per machine or per person?Show

Per person. Starter is £5 a month or £50 a year, for 2 managed computers per user. Business is £7 or £70, for 10. Advanced is £10 or £100, with no per-user cap. A client's extra PCs do not each add a licence. The trial is 7 days of Starter features.

04Can a partner reach the office PC from home without a VPN?Show

Yes. Host on the practice PC, and the partner signs in as themselves. The session is that computer: tax software, working papers, mail. Business and Advanced follow each monitor. Remote print covers the page that still needs paper.

05Will a new starter get their own login?Show

Yes. Every operator is a named account, which is how the price is counted. Business and Advanced add an email invite, a role and a device group. The log records that name. Remove the user when they leave. TOTP two-factor authentication is available on the account.

06Does DeskZap connect to Sage or Xero?Show

You connect to the computer, then open Sage or Xero yourself. There is no connector or sync into those products. A company file on the client's PC means the session is that PC. Xero in a browser is opened on the machine you are supporting, or shared with a Quick Support code.

06 / Next

What should an accountancy firm do next?

Put the 7-day trial on the PC that actually holds a company file or the tax software. Read the pricing page before the number goes into a proposal. The TeamViewer comparison and the VPN post are the two reads that sit next to this job.
