Remote support for hospitality and retail IT

Remote support for hospitality and retail IT means reaching the till PC or the back-office machine while the site stays open. DeskZap is priced per operator in pounds, so the bill follows the people who connect. Lightspeed or EPOS Now stays the software on that computer.

01 / The work

What three jobs does hospitality IT run on site?

The site is open and you are not there. The failure is a till, a back-office PC, or a paper report the manager still needs.

01
The till

A till PC that has stopped behaving

Lightspeed or EPOS Now stays the system of record on that computer. With the venue's agreement, Host is already installed and the operator connects while the floor is in service. There is no sales feed into DeskZap.

02
Back office

A report, and a printer

Connect to the back-office PC and remote-print a bookings list, a stock count or a daily report to a printer on the operator's side. This is one print from that computer. It is not a promise that every receipt printer is redirected. Test the printer during the trial.

03
Another site

A new venue, without a per-till shock

The bill follows the operators, not a licence per till. Starter covers 2 managed computers per user and Business 10. Advanced has no per-user cap. On Business and Advanced the new site goes into its own device group.

02 / Why DeskZap

Where does DeskZap win for hospitality and retail?

These are the shipped points that survive a till that is down and a renewal conversation.

  • A price per operator, published in pounds

Starter is £5 a month or £50 a year. Business is £7 or £70. Advanced is £10 or £100. Per named person. The number does not move every time a site adds a screen.

  • Tills do not each become a licence

The subscription is the people who connect. No per-device multiplier. Starter is 2 managed computers per user, Business is 10, Advanced has no per-user cap.

  • A code when the site will not leave software installed

A franchisee who controls the till image can read a 9-digit Quick Support code. It lasts 5 minutes. Nothing is installed, and they need no account. Sites you own can take Host instead.

  • Remote print for the report on paper

Remote print is on every plan. Print from the back-office session to a printer the operator can use. Confirm which printer that is before a Saturday night.

  • Per-monitor sessions for the back-office desk

Business and Advanced open the remote PC per monitor, so the till dashboard and the stock sheet can sit side by side. A single-screen till is fine on Starter.

  • A log of who was on the till PC

The activity log records the named operator, the machine and the time. Advanced self-hosts the control plane. On Business and Advanced you can reboot the PC from the workspace.

03 / Client data

How do you keep till sessions accountable?

Payment screens and staff lists are on those PCs. Add a name and a time, and leave the till software where it is.

Read self-hosted remote desktop and data residency and the features page.

01

Operators sign in under their own names

Each operator is a named user, with TOTP two-factor authentication on the account. Business and Advanced add device groups, so a regional tech sees their sites. Remove the user when they leave.

02

Who joined which machine, and when

The activity log records the operator, the device, the time and the policy. The live screen is AES-256 end-to-end encrypted. DeskZap cannot read it in transit.

03

Self-host on Advanced when residency is the point

A group that wants the control plane on UK infrastructure it runs takes Advanced and self-hosts. Lightspeed or EPOS Now keeps the trading data. DeskZap does not take a copy of the day's sales.

Session recording with retention, USB redirection and pen support are part of DeskZap Support. The activity log records the named operator, machine and time on every session.

04 / Price

What does remote support cost per operator?

Count the people on the late rota, not the tills. Starter is one operator and two machines. Business adds groups and per-monitor sessions, ten computers per user. Advanced removes the per-user cap and adds self-host.

Yearly figures are the annual total per named user.

05 / Questions

What do hospitality IT teams ask first?

Questions from a venue IT lead. Each answer stands on its own. AnyDesk alternative for UK teams and Remote support without installing software cover the neighbouring questions.

01Can we reach a till PC on the shop floor?Show

Yes, if that PC can run Host or show a Quick Support code. A standing site gets Host, with the venue's agreement. A site that will not leave software installed reads a 9-digit code for a one-off. Lightspeed or EPOS Now keeps running. You are on the computer.

02Do we pay per till or per person?Show

Per person. Starter is £5 a month or £50 a year, for 2 managed computers. Business is £7 or £70, for 10 per user. Advanced is £10 or £100, with no per-user cap. Forty tills are not forty subscriptions. The trial is 7 days of Starter features.

03Can a manager print during a remote session?Show

Yes. Remote print is on every plan. From the back-office PC you print to a printer on the operator's side: a bookings list, a stock count or a daily report. It is not a driver for every receipt printer. Test the printer during the trial.

04Where does session data live?Show

The live screen is AES-256 end-to-end encrypted, and DeskZap cannot read it in transit. The activity log (operator, machine, time) is held by the control plane. Advanced can self-host that plane. Session recording with retention is part of DeskZap Support.

05Can we support a site that will not install software on the till?Show

Yes. Quick Support is nine digits, 5 minutes, and nothing is left installed. That fits a franchisee who controls the till image. Sites you own take Host, and on Business and Advanced you can reboot that PC from the workspace.

06Does DeskZap integrate with Lightspeed or EPOS Now?Show

There is no integration. Both stay on the till or the back-office PC. The session opens that PC. DeskZap does not receive sales, stock or payments. A cloud back office is opened in the browser on the machine you are supporting.
